Iran's petrochemical exports to China to rise to dlrs 1 bn

Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company Mohammad-Hadi Rahbari said on Saturday that Iran's petrochemical exports to China is expected to reach dlrs one billion during the current year.


Rahbari, who is in China to attend the first seminar on 'investment opportunities in Iran', being held in Shanghai, told IRNA that Iran's petrochemical exports to China stood at dlrs 90 million n 1998 which increased to dlrs 700 million in 2007. The figure is expected to touch dlrs 1 billion this year.

However, export of petrochemical products to various countries was worth dlrs 5.5 billion last year and the figure is expected to rise to dlrs 5.5 billion, the NPC managing director said in his address to the seminar.

He added that the the share of petrochemical products in the country's non-oil exports stands at 37 percent and the figure is to climb to 40 percent next year.

Rahbari also referred to 12 petrochemical projects to become operational in Iran during the present year.

He said that Iran and China should have a win-win cooperation, adding that constant systematic cooperation between the two countries will give a boost to their relations.

Iran-China joint cooperation not only safeguards the two sides's interests but also benefits world economy, Rahbari noted.
