Iranian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mohammad Jahromi and Qatari Minister of Labor and Social Affairs and Housing Sultan Hassan Al Dosary hold talks here on Sunday on issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Jahromi called for expansion of bilateral cooperation in labor-related fields.
Jahromi noted that the Islamic Republic has a say in the fields of agriculture, processing, oil, petrochemical, steel, aluminum and copper industries, information technology and tourism," he said.
Iranian universities also have trained specialized technical, engineering and medical workforce, he said.
Jahromi further noted that training in Iran is based on the needs of labor market and according to international standards.
He also voiced Iran's willingness to cooperate with Qatar in the field of training workforce.
Jahromi noted that 1.2 million people enter the Iranian labor markets annually.
Referring to training courses held by Iranian universities to provide job opportunities, Jahromi noted that Iran is ready to share its valuable experiences with the Qatari government.
Pointing to a decline in the number of manpower dispatched to Qatar, he expresses regret that the number of Iranians working in Qatar has declined to one third.
Al-Dosari, for his part, called for expansion of bilateral cooperation in labor-related fields.
He also expressed hope that Qatar would utilize the experiences of Islamic Republic in the field of workforce training.
"Iran has made great progress in medical and engineering fields," Dosari said, calling for carrying out joint research by the two countries.
Dosari noted that agreements have been signed with 11 countries to dispatch workforce to Qatar, adding that 800,000 foreign workers are active in Qatar currently.
Dosari expressed hope that the Tehran-Doha ties would further broaden in the future.
