Dlrs 5.8b worth of non-oil commodities exported

Some dlrs 5.8 billion worth of non-oil commodities were exported in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 20).

Announcing this, the secretariat head of High Council for Export of Non-Oil Commodities affiliated to Trade Promotion Organization of Iran noted that the figure shows a two-fold increase compared to the figure for the same period of the previous year.

Leila Baqeban put the export of non-oil commodities, with the exception of gas condensates, at dlrs 4.3 billion, showing 147 percent increase compared to the figure for the same period the previous year.

"Major export commodities included petrochemical products, iron- ware, steel, handwoven carpet and pistachio," she said.

She said that the top export destination of Iranian non-oil commodities was the UAE followed by China, Iraq, India and Japan.

"Some dlrs 12.9 billion worth of commodities were imported during the said period," she said.

Baqeban noted that the main exporters to Iran were the UAE, Germany, China, South Korea and Switzerland.
