Iran, Bulgaria call for boosting of transportation cooperation

Iranian Minister of Road and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati and his Bulgarian counterpart Petar Mutafchier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on expansion of bilateral ties here on Wednesday.

As per the MoU, the two sides agreed to pay much attention to their transportation cooperation.

Referring to the importance of cooperation in the field of transportation, Rahmati noted that the second session of Iran-Bulgaria joint transportation committee will be held in Sofia in August.

In a bid to expand bilateral cooperation, the two sides have been obliged to exchange transportation information.

Bulgarian officials also called for amending the issued permits for the two countries' passenger transportation companies.

The two sides also emphasized the need for cooperation in rail transportation field and increasing the volume of cargo traffic.

According to the MoU, the fist joint meeting on marine and port cooperation committee will be held in Bulgaria by the end of 2008.

Petar Mutafchiev, for his part, called for boosting of the two countries' transportation cooperation.
