Iran-APMCHUD-Conference
Iran's achievements in the field of housing and urban development should be shared with Asian and Pacific countries, Iran's Minister of Housing and Development Mohammad Saeedi-Kia said here on Wednesday.
Addressing the 2nd Asia-Pacific ministerial conference on housing and urban development (APMCHUD) Saeedi-Kia expressed hope that the conference could remove the problems facing housing sector in the region.
"Since the victory of Islamic Revolution, positive steps have been taken in the housing sector," he said.
According to the minister, some positive measures have been taken for low-income families over the past decades.
Saeedi-Kia also urged the APMCHUD's members to cooperate with one another in this respect.
He also noted that the current conference can pave the way for the next session of the World Urban Forum to be held in Nanjing, China, in October 2008.
"The conference will provide Iran with a good opportunity to exchange views with other participant delegations on problems concerning urban development," Saeedi-Kia said.
The 2nd APMCHUD three-day event opened in Tehran on May 12.
The 1st APMCHUD session was held in India and Indonesia will host the next event in 2009.
