MegaFone is eyeing for a dlrs 4.6 billion investment in Islamic Republic's cell phone market, hoping to win a tender for GSM in Iran.

Earlier, head of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology's International Affairs Bureau noted that sanctions imposed on Iran for its peaceful nuclear activities have had no economic impact but rather have led to further foreign investments.

"Currently, some leading mobile operators across the world have voiced readiness to invest in the Iranian communication sector," he said, adding some European countries, Arab states, China and Russia will take part in the tender for third cell phone operator.

Over 28 million Iranians are mobile subscribers in Iran and MegaFone has 36 million subscribers in Russia.
