Italian ambassador summoned to foreign ministry

Foreign Ministry summoned Italian Ambassador to Tehran Roberto Tuscano and informed him of Iran's strong protest concerning arrival of the head of the terrorist group Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) to Rome.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Wednesday, Director General of West Europe Bureau Mostafa Dowlatyar, by referring to the terrorist acts and crimes of the MKO against Iranian people and the responsibilities and obligations of the European countries, including Italy, about comprehensive and indiscriminate fight against terrorism upon the UN Security Council Resolution no. 1373, lodging Iran's strong protest on a trip by MKO head to Italy and her meeting with a number of Italian parliament deputies.

Dowlatyar called the action contradictory to the recent decision of the European Union on retaining the name of MKO in the terrorist list of the EU.

The Italian ambassador expressed regret over the issue and emphasized the terrorist nature of the MKO and said he would convey the issue to the related officials.
