Iran-Alalam-Abedini
Director General of Alalam TV Hassan Abedini said Wednesday that Alalam staff in Egypt cover events professionally and impartially and and misunderstanding will be solved with Egyptian officials through consultation.

"The (Alalam) bureau (in Egypt) has not been closed but Egyptian police has checked the office on a case of misunderstanding, taking away a camera, a computer and several tapes," Abedini told IRNA when asked to comment about rumors that the Alalam Egypt bureau has been shut down.

Also asked whether situation for Alalam TV staff's activity in Egypt has returned to normal, Abedini said, "During its five-year operations in Egypt, Alalam has worked well in covering the country's events and has attracted many Egyptian audiences and experts." Wednesday edition of Saudi-based daily al-Riyadh quoted a member of Egyptian National Parliament's Culture and Information Commission Mohsen Radhi as saying that he had criticized the way Egyptian intelligence apparatus had treated Alalam TV bureau staff in the country.

Radhi deplored that freedom of expression and activity of media in Egypt have been affected by political differences.

"The network has in the past few years met and conferred with a large number of Egyptian government officials on different news events."
Alalam TV bureau was on Monday checked by Egyptian police unexpectedly and its routine work has been stopped.
