Tehran, July 15, IRNA

Ahmadinejad-TV Interview
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad briefed Iranian nation on major national issues Monday evening, including latest developments in Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

He said, "Iran's nuclear issue is a matter within a very broad cradle and in order to comprehend it, it is necessary to understand that cradle in advance."
He added, "Some nuclear powers have been marching their forces in front of our nation during the past 30 years. They are not opposed to war, weapons, or enmity, and are in fact the standard bearers of such fields. What they are actually opposed to is that a nation like the Iranians would reach a stage where it could be a model for the other nations."
The IRI President referred to the pressure imposed against Iran by certain powers over our peaceful nuclear program, arguing, "They had assumed that by intimidating the other nations resorting to the nuclear issues and the nuclear weapons matter, they could create an anti-Iranian atmosphere, getting political concessions from us, and propagating that they had managed to halt Iran's progress." He added, "But by grace of God, the wisdom of our nation, and the farsightedness of our leader, we resisted and thanks to that brave resistance, we achieved satisfactory success."
He referred to the conducted nuclear negotiations and reached agreements during the past few years, saying, "In Paris Agreement in fact Iran's entire rights were ignored, but when Iran changed its approach towards the matter and we announced our new stands, the entire process of developments were altered."
He said, "In fact when we put to use 164 centrifuges in the spring of 2005 they raised a great hue and cry and imposed an immense pressure on Iran, and that was repeated when the number of Iran's active centrifuges reached 3,000. They demanded that Iran should halt its nuclear activities, but the Iranian nation resisted and kept on paving the Right Path, and the path of taking advantage of the nuclear energy."
The president reiterated, "We are now enjoying one of the best statuses Iran has ever experiences during the past 30 years. The oppressor powers have realized that the path they were paving has ended in a dead end alley, leaving them with no option, but negotiations and yielding to our rights."
He said, "They are obliged to respect our rights and we have told them that our re-entering the negotiations is possible under just conditions." Focusing on features of Iran's package of incentives for the West, he said, "In the package we presented to them, we stated that our rights would be materialized in the framework of solving the world crises."
Our emphasis is over the contents of our own package, that they, too, have confirmed is quite comprehensive, and therefore it should be natural to begin work based on its shared points with the Western package."
Ahmadinejad emphasized, "We have proposed solutions to ease the world's worries. We have also proposed ways for nuclear disarmament, the world economic problem, the international security, and how to reach a satisfactory world order amid peace and security, based on holding talks and respecting the nations' rights."
In response to a question on the upcoming talks between secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and the EU Foreign Policy Chief, he said, "Mr. Jalili would talk on the framework and the agenda of negotiations, including their time table and the two sides' negotiators with Mr. Solana."
He emphasized, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is willing and ready for entering talks with entire counties in the world, save for the Zionist regime, but such negotiations need to be held based on the rule of justice and from equal stands."
The president considered the achievements gained during the course of the past few years to be the fruit of the Iranian nation's Jihadi resistance, and that of their representatives at the government, arguing, "The world public opinion is almost unanimously with the Iranian nation."
He added, "In the course of the psychological war they have launched, the Iranian nation has proved its righteousness and gained numerous achievements. The resistance of the Iranian nation put under question the unilateral, unjust world order and the philosophy behind it, proving that is quite inefficient."
He said that the other achievement of this resistance was reaching strategy for countering the regional and international challenges, arguing, "It has now been 30 years that the enemy has been invading against us.

"When they realized that the military invasion is of no use, they resorted to political, economic, and propagation campaigns. We have always been defending, but the defensive strategy has a certain capacity, and is in need of giving concessions," said Ahmadinejad.

The President emphasized, "By changing policies in our interactions with the powers the equations were changed. In other words, when we adopted a dynamic approach we tried to ward off threats and pressure from the vicinity of our borders, and thanks god that objective was achieved."
