India-China-Postage Stamps
To commemorate bilateral relations with China, India has released two commemorative postage stamps on India-China relationship.
The stamps depicting two famous Buddhist temples, the Mahabodhi Temple of India and the White Horse Temple of China were released by the Communications and Information Technology Minister Thiru A Raja in the presence of Indian and Chinese officials in New Delhi Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the joint stamps depicting the two famous Buddhist temples are one of the finest examples of cultural interaction in the present times.
He said it will be a reminder of healthy friendly relations between the two countries and a commitment to nurture that relationship in future.
He emphasized the need of cooperation in the postal administration for larger areas of cooperation in philately, EMS, logistic post and others.
Raja said that postal business is growing fast and regional cooperation will go a long way in improving the quality of service in the region.
The Chinese version of these stamps were released in Beijing last month during the visit of External Affairs Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The common design of the stamps has been jointly done by Postal Departments of India and China.
The Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan, Ms. Radhika Doraiswamy, Secretary, Department of Posts and delegates from both countries attended the stamp release function.
