New Delhi, July 10, IRNA

India-Prime-Return
India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned home Thursday morning after a three-day visit to Japan where he met world leaders including US President George W Bush on the sidelines of the summit of the Group of Eight industrialised countries (G-8).

The President Mrs Pratibha Patil has called on the premier to meet her on Thursday to have his views on the hectic political developments following the withdrawal of support by four Left parties to the UPA government, said a communique issued by Presidential Palace, Wednesday evening.

The president may also follow the precedence set by one of her predecessors, K R Narayanan, of not calling for a confidence vote if she is convinced that the UPA government has the requisite number of parliamentarians.

Meanwhile, in a day of hectic political developments in New Delhi Wednesday, the Left parties and NDA (National Democratic Alliance) demanded that the prime minister seek trust vote and the Samajwadi party handed letter of support to the president, the Congress said it has numbers in the Lok Sabha.
