Iran has always been part of the solution to regional problems in the past 30 years, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Wednesday.
After the victory of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, the country has constantly tried to adopt a logical and realistic approach in dealing with regional crises and developments, Mottaki told reporters on the sidelines of an international gathering at UN headquarters.
He is currently in New York to attend the high-level meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) which would end on July 3.
Referring to the importance of the Persian Gulf security, the Iranian minister regretted that the region was experiencing many crises and tensions which are sources of concern.
"The Persian Gulf is one of the world's major sources of energy and it is highly important to pay due attention to its security given the ongoing crises in the Middle East region, Mottaki said.
He added that lack of a correct and fair knowledge about the region and its developments has, so far, led to the failure of many policies adopted to deal with regional crises.
Touching upon to the role played by Iran to solve regional crises, Mottaki referred to Tehran's approach towards ongoing situation in Lebanon.
He stressed that Iran had adopted a completely logical and fair approach based on non-interference in Lebanon's internal affairs.
Iran has always announced that no one had the right to decide for the Lebanese nation on their behalf, Mottaki stressed adding that and no formula should be imposed on Lebanese people to settle the country's problems.
He noted that as a country which exists in the same region with other countries, it was natural for Iran to be affected by affairs of other regional countries and have, in turn, an influence on them.
More in his remarks, Mottaki denounced London's recent decision removing the name of the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization from its list of terrorist groups.
Referring to the MKO's terrorist background, Mottaki said that the notorious organization had, so far, committed many acts of terrorism in Iran and other countries.
Condemning all forms of terrorism, Mottaki denounced adopting double standards policy by big powers towards the issue.
He said no contradictory approach should be taken to deal with the problem of terrorism and it should not be divided into the good or bad terrorism.
