Iran team to determine whereabouts of kidnapped policemen

Tehran, June 23, IRNA

Iran-Pakistan-Hosseini
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Monday that Iran is to despatch a team to Pakistan to determine whereabouts of Iranian policemen who were kidnapped by a terrorist group in Sistan-Baluchestan.

Speaking to reporters in his weekly press briefing, Hosseini said bandits in Sistan and Baluchestan have kidnaped some 16 Iranian policemen and martyred two of them and Iran is demanding release of 14 others.

Iran is to send a delegation to Pakistan and the Pakistani officials have voiced readiness to spare no efforts to this end, Hosseini said.

"We have no evidence on martyrdom of the two Iranian policemen," he said adding that what was aired by al-Arabiya TV "was against ethical and professionals commitments."
Iran and Pakistan have close cooperation in campaign against terrorism, he said adding that Pakistan recently handed over a number of bandits to Iran.
