Israel-Palestine
60 years after the Zionist regime occupied the Palestinian lands on May 15th, 1948, the regime is now celebrating the event.
After the foundation of Israel, all Jewish groups from 80 ethnics and speaking in 70 languages immigrated into occupied Palestinian lands from 90 countries, hoping for the Zionist regime's promises for a better life and bright future to be fulfilled.
The presence of these immigrants led to new crises, creating social, economic, political, cultural, and welfare problems for the Zionist regime after decades of foundation. A look at Israel's welfare and social problems at the 60th anniversary of its foundation shows an increasing emigration from occupied lands.
1) Zionist regime's promises to immigrant Jews
Job creation and high income were among the Zionist promises to Jews across the world to bring them to the Palestine which it introduced as the Promised Land. But, nowadays the unfulfilled promises are one of the factors weakening Israel's social integrity, which has forced the Zionist regime to prevent social and cultural destruction through numerous measures for enhancing common values.
2) Status quo of economic and social indicators in Israel Poverty in Israel:
According to the latest figures released by Israel's ministry of welfare and social security, over 1.4 million of Israelis are living below the poverty line. The number is higher than last year's figure by 105,000 people out of which 53,000 are children and youngsters.
The ministry in previous years said that nearly 1.2 million poor Israelis had referred to it for assistance.
The ministry report further says that out of five old-aged citizens, three were the below poverty line, and one was suffering from hunger last year.
And the addicted are mainly from the lower classes of the society, among them were women who had to use prostitution to earn money and provide narcotics. Israel, apparently being developed and
industrialized, is mired in social problems including poverty, as some of classes provide even their basic necessities with difficulty. Some data are indicative of an increase in poverty growth rate in comparison with population growth rate.
Reasons behind poverty in Israel:
High unemployment rate in some parts of the society and unbalanced structure of workforce
Huge gap in incomes of various classes, inappropriate distribution of social wealth, and low-level incomes for blue-collar workers Agony living model among hardliner orthodox Jews
Relying on government bonuses, which is the dominant assumption among the Jewish poor
Relying on government assistance through receiving compensation from countries such as Germany for Holocaust Discriminating policies of the Zionist regime towards Jews with eastern origin during past decades
Sharp decrease of Israel's national revenues due to Palestinians' uprising which is a blow to Israel's tourism industry
Internal rows on using socioeconomic and political advantages, resulted by the existence of various Jewish groups having the lowest common values far from religious beliefs
Unemployment and inflation in Israel:
Growth in inflation and unemployment rates are two main consequences of economic crisis in Israel.
The six-percent inflation rate in 2002 is expected to be doubled by the late of 2008. The increasing inflation rate has caused a rise in fuel and gas prices and housing rentals. Surging economic recession in recent months has resulted in an increase in unemployment rate and thereby a decline in consumption which brings about economic stagnation, top officials in ministries of finance, commerce and industry have said.
The surge in unemployment rate has consequently led to the increase in the number of poor. As far as poverty is concerned, Israel stands second among developed countries.
Conclusion:
The problems currently existed in the Israeli society reveals that the Zionist regime has failed to bring a bright future, as it promised, to Jews immigrating to Palestine. And it seems the regime is facing more social and welfare problems.
