Omani Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi Bin Abdulla heading a high ranking delegation departed for Tehran on Saturday afternoon.

He is to participate in the foreign ministers meeting of Indian Ocean Littoral States Union, which is to start its work from Sunday May 4, 2008.

Oman, upon its strategy in strengthening regional unions, has had an effective role in establishment of the IOLS.

Currently, 18 countries including Iran and Oman are member states of the IOLS.
