FM holds talks with D8 sec-gen on issues of mutual interest

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki held talks with the Group of Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D8) secretary general here on Tuesday.

Referring to the D8's basic proposals and measures, Mottaki voiced Iran's readiness to support D8 programs.

Pointing to the previous D8 summit in Bali, indonesia, Mottaki noted that the summit was the demonstration of political will of the D8 members at the highest level.

"Iran's approach toward the D8 is not political," he said.

Dipo Alam, for his part, expressed hope that the D8 upcoming summit could pave the way for the success of the grouping.

Alam also emphasized the need for boosting of cooperation among D8 members in the fields of trade and tourism.

The Islamic Republic, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Egypt are the D8 members.
