Safari: Iran concerned about UK's non-constructive role in talks

Tehran, July 22, IRNA

Iran-UK-Ricketts
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Euro-American Affairs Mehdi Safari on Tuesday voiced Iran's concern over the UK's 'non-constructive' role in expansion of bilateral relations.

Safari told the UK Permanent Under-Secretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Peter Ricketts that effective strategies should be found to promote two-way ties.

He called on London to find speedy ways to solve problems concerning Iranian national Nasrallah Tajik, who is now in custody in the UK, and to turn down his extradition to the US.

The two sides also studied their governments' official stances as well as regional situation and developments, including those in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rickets, underlining Iran's effective role in developments in Iraq and Afghanistan, urged Tehran to play more effective role in that connection.
