Nepal-President-Swearing-in
Nepali Congress leader Ram Baran Yadav, who was elected as the country's first president on Monday, will be sworn in on Wednesday.
The chief justice of Supreme Court will administer oath of office to Yadav, officials from Kathmandu said.
He will then visit to Sheetal Niwas at Maharajgunj, the office-cum-residence of the new president, in a convoy.
He will be given military bodyguards and a full security unit consisting of 1,000 army personnel.
Meanwhile, officials said the election to the post of chairman of the Constituent Assembly will held on Thursday. The three-party alliance comprising Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and MPRF have already decided to back UML candidate Subhash Nemwang for the post.
Meanwhile, soon after being elected as the first president of Nepal, Ram Baran Yadav Monday said he would work for building unity among the people of Terai, Himal and Pahad (Hills) in the country and end the politics of violence for ever.
"I will work for building unity among the people of Terai, Himal and Pahad (Hills). I will dedicate myself to the welfare of the marginalized and backward communities," he said while speaking at a felicitation program organized by Nepali Congress party.
As Nepal is passing through a transitional phase, there is a need to strengthen national unity by forging cooperation and collaboration, he said. It is also essential to build the culture of democracy, he pointed out.
Ram Baran Yadav elected as the first president of Nepal Monday securing 308 votes in the run-off presidential polls, defeating Maoist candidate Ramraja Prasad Singh who got 282 votes.
