Iran, Somalia discuss issues of mutual interest

Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad-Reza Baqeri on Monday met with Somalia's Parliament Speaker Mohamed Ismail in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi.

In the meeting, the two sides held talks on current developments in Somalia, the situation of the transitional government in the country as well as expansion of bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

Referring to the importance of Iran's presence in Africa, Ismail called for broadening of Tehran-Mogadishu ties.

Stressing the need to establish peace and security in his country, he welcomed Iran's constructive role in restoring tranquility to Somalia.
