New Delhi, July 18, IRNA

Sri Lanka-LTTE-Airforce
Continuing with its offensive, Sri Lankan air force Friday pounded two Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) positions in the northern district of Mullaithivu causing heavy damage to the Tamil outfit.

An artillery position of the Tamil Tigers was destroyed in the first aerial bombing early morning, All India Radio (AIR) reported here quoting spokesman at the Media Centre for Sri Lankan National Security (MCNS).

The location was two kilometers west of Mullaithivu lagoon, the spokesman added.

The second air strike was targeted on the sea-tigers moving about at one kilometer north of Mullaithivu lagoon.

Three sea-tiger boats were destroyed in the air operation.

Meanwhile Defence Ministry sources said that multi pronged offensive against LTTE defenses in the Wanni and Jaffna regions are continuing.

Official sources claimed that the armed forces have moved 'further close to their final objective'.

Defence ministry's assertion came a day after the Government forces captured strategic sea-tiger base at Vidathalthivu, close to Gulf of Mannar.

However the LTTE has not yet reacted to the setback that they faced in Gulf of Mannar.
