Mottaki: Iran, Senegal experiencing fast growing ties in recent years

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that expansion of cooperation between Iran and Senegal was on rise in the past three years.

Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with the new Senegalese Ambassador to Tehran al-Haj Aliaune Samba.

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, at the meeting, the new ambassador submitted a copy of his credential letter to Iran's foreign minister.

There are a number of joint projects at hands by both sides such as auto-making industry, sales of buses to Senegal, agricultural cooperation as well as construction of oil refinery, Mottaki said, adding that "We hope through allocation of technical and engineering assistance to the private sectors, the grounds for more cooperation between the two sides would be created."
The new Senegalese ambassador, for his part, said he regards his tenure in Tehran as a pride.

"Senegalese president believes that Iranian people are good and faithful friends and this has doubled my motivation and sense of responsibility in carrying out duties," he said.

He also admired production of Samand sedan in Senegal, transfer of electricity and joint cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two sides private sectors.
