Ahmadinejad inaugurates National Codification Center

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday inaugurated the National Codification Center.


The national system for codification of goods and services in Iran known as "Iran Code" is one of the most important
infrastructural projects implemented so far for setting up market, goods distribution network and electronic trade in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The National Codification Center was inaugurated in Martyr Beheshti Hall of Presidential Office.

First Vice President Parviz Davoudi, Commerce Minister Masoud Mir-Kazemi, Senior Presidential Advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, Defense Minister Mohammad-Mostafa Najjar, Vice President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou, Cooperatives Minister Mohammad Abbasi and a number of other officials took part in the inaugural ceremony.

The Commerce Ministry is to make use of Iran Code in a bid to organize information on goods and services.

One of the main goal behind establishment of the center is to organize goods distribution system as one of the axes of the government's economic reforms.

Iran Code covers such commodities as handwoven carpets, foodstuff, dairies, hygienic and cosmetic products and automobile spare parts. It is to become operational in the second half of the current Iranian year.

The project will significantly reduce marketing, transportation and storage costs.
