Judiciary urged to follow up Iran's rights at int'l courts

Tehran, June 24, IRNA

Iran-Justice-President
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday the Judiciary should actively exercise counsel rights with the courts of justice worldwide to defend the country's rights.

Addressing a national seminar on judiciary affairs, the president said Iran's Judiciary is expected to exercise counsel rights with the courts of justice where claims have been lodged against Iran.

"In addition to introducing the Islamic justice system to the world, the Judiciary must follow up promotion of justice at international relations," said the president.

"Corrupt powers filed cases against Iran and got verdicts against the country in absentia," argued the president saying the Judiciary must defend rights of the Iranians and other oppressed nations at international scene.

Referring to key role the body should play to restore violated rights of the Iranian nation, President Ahmadinejad appreciated efforts made by Judiciary chief, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, to promote the body's performance.

The Judiciary should find a broader view and act internationally as it has the capacity to do so, stressed the president.

"Justice is an international issue and there would be no reform in the world without promoting it worldwide."
The president added human society would never reach prosperity without justice.
