Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki in a meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday called for continuation of Iran's help and support for Iraqi nation.
In the meeting, Maleki praised Iran's support for Iraq and described his talks with Iranian senior officials as 'good and constructive'.
The Iraqi premier congratulated Larijani on his election as the new Majlis speaker and added, "You are a well-known character in the region and your appointment has placed you in an effective position." Larijani, for his part, called Iran as a friendly neighbor of Iraq which has always been supporting Iraqi nation and elected government and expressed Iran's readiness for participation in Iraq's reconstruction.
He said Iraq security is the security of the region and establishment of stability and security in Iraq is the necessary condition for rebuilding demolished areas left from Saddam era.
"Your outlook concerning Iraq future is clear and I believe you are directing the country forward and you can be a symbol of national unity in Iraq," Larijani continued.
Underlining the importance and the role of parliaments in creating close ties between countries, Larijani expressed Majlis readiness for any cooperation and exchange of experiences with Iraq parliament.
