German MP: Sanctions against Iran not much effective

Tehran, May 20, IRNA

Iran-Germany-Ramsauer
A German lawmaker said Tuesday that sanctions against Iran will not be much effective.

"Sanctions have limited impact on Iran and in rare cases can one force a country to do something by issuing sanctions," said head of the Christian Social Union party at German Bundestag (parliament) on Tuesday.

Peter Ramsauer said, "As for commercial and trade relations, when a party gives up commercial ties, another country immediately takes its place. Countries like Russia, China, Japan, South Korea and Italy are the countries that are strongly willing to have commercial ties with Iran and if any of the trade parties with Iran leaves the scene, it would be substituted."
He said the G5+1 proposed package stresses expansion of nuclear cooperation with Iran.

The package is to be put to Iran by the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana.

Ramsauer said that comprehensive and all-out economic cooperation in different fields, including in the areas of environment protection, infrastructures such as traffic control, telecommunications and education, are included in the package proposed by the West.
