Quake jolts northern Iran

Iran-Amlash-Quake
An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit the city of Amlash in the northern province of Gilan early Thursday morning.

The Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the tremor at 02:06 hours local time (2136 GMT on Wednesday).

The earthquake was epicentered in an area located in 50.6 degrees in longitude and 37.5 degrees in latitude.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
