Massacres, threats US' only message to world: Ahmadinejad

Rasht, Gilan Prov, Feb 21, IRNA

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday evening that the message imparted by US officials to world nations was solely of threats and killings.

Addressing a meeting of local religious figures in this northern provincial city, the president said that the US policy of threats and intimidation will not solve the critical problems of today's world.

Noting conditions in the present world, Ahmadinejad said "we can conclude that the world is on the verge of a great revolution." He added that most countries were taking Iran as their model of a state that applies Islamic teachings to settle the problems of the world.

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Gilan Tuesday morning for a three-day visit accompanied by Vice-President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou and Senior Advisor for the President Mostafa Hashemi Samareh.

The current visit is the president's 25th to various provinces of the country since the start of his initiative of bringing the government closer to the people.

The president will be touring 16 cities of the province to meet local residents, war veterans and martyrs during his three-day stay.

He will preside over a cabinet session in Rasht, capital of the province, to discuss provincial problems and needs before he returns to Tehran.
