India-Bangladesh-Talks
In the backdrop of Bangladeshi links being found to many terror incidents in India, New Delhi on Thursday sought the cooperation of Dhaka in tackling the menace "resolutely".
At the talks between Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohd Touhid Hossain here, the two sides also agreed that the bilateral technical committee on water issue should meet soon to expedite resolution of the disputes.
"The discussions were very useful and led to much greater understanding of each other's position," Menon said at a joint press conference with Hossain after the talks.
The Indian side raised the issue of terrorism emanating from Bangladeshi soil and sought Dhaka's cooperation in curbing such activities.
"Terrorism has to be tackled resolutely...We discussed how to meet it together," Menon said, adding "we look forward to working together against terrorism."
Menon emphasised that security of the two countries is inter-linked and they should join hands on the issue.
He said Home Secretaries of the two countries will meet soon to discuss ways to tackle terrorism together.
Describing terrorism as a "global problem", Hossain said the two countries have the mechanism of Home Secretary-level meetings to address it.
