Algiers supports Iran's nuclear program: PM

Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia on Monday reiterated his country's support for Iran's peaceful nuclear program.


In a meeting with the visiting Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Saeedi-Kia, he added that civilian nuclear energy is the legitimate right of the Iranian nation.

Underlining the need to further expand economic cooperation between the two countries, he said that an Iranian bank is to be inaugurated in Algiers in the near future.

He called for participation of Iranian companies in the field of economy and investment in his country.

The Algerian premier also underscored the need for materialization of the agreements reached between the two sides.

Saeedi-Kia, who is also co-chairman of Iran-Algeria joint Economic Commission, arrived in Algiers on Monday at the head of high-ranking economic delegation to attend the third session of the two countries joint economic commission.

During his three-day stay, he held talks with several Algerian senior officials on issues of mutual interest.
