Iranians have played a crucial role in the formation of the great Islamic civilization, Iran's cultural attache in London told an international exhibition here on Saturday.

Making the statement while delivering a lecture at the Second International Islam Expo in London which opened Friday, Iran's Cultural Attache in the city Ali Mohammad Helmi said that most of the orientalists have referred to the unique role of the Iranians in their studies on the history of Islamic civilization.

Various scientific and cultural meetings will also be held on the sidelines of the event wherein lecturers from different countries will speak about issues of Islamic world.

Helmi also said that Islamic civilization is the outcome of the efforts by all nations which had a share in the building and prosperity of the civilization and Iranians also as a civilized nation had a significant role in the formation and enrichment of the Islamic civilization.

"Iran hopes it will traverse new fields of development and progress and revive Islamic civilization through modern scientific and Islamic thoughts and developing its ties with other countries, especially Islamic states, and interaction with all Muslim countries," he said.

Due to the spread of Arabic language in a period of Islamic history, great Iranian scholars wrote their works in this language and this should not cause mistakes, he said.

Great scientists such as Avicena, Kharazmi and Abu Reyhan Birouni are among the great
Islamic figures who promoted scientific activities and Islamic civilization's glory via their thoughts and works.

Iran is also participating in the event which seeks to forge convergence among the Muslims and present a true image of Islam to the West.
