Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said that Iran's stance on its nuclear activities is transparent.

In a meeting with Iran's Charge d'affaires Mohammad-Hossein Mirza-Aqaei in Vatican, Cardinal Bertone said that Holy See respects Iran's right to produce nuclear energy and defends such activities.

He added that the only solution for solving Iran's nuclear dispute is diplomacy.

The talks on Iran's nuclear question should be held within the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA's) regulations, he said.

"As a member of IAEA, we make efforts to help Iran get its nuclear right," Cardinal Bertone noted.

Vatican bluntly opposes putting Iran under pressure for its peaceful nuclear activities, he added.

Referring to Iran-Vatican cordial ties, Cardinal Bertone said that his state cares for relationships with Iran.

So, the Vatican City calls for boosting and strengthening mutual cooperation with Tehran, he said.
