Article 44 underscores economic management

Tehran, July 9, IRNA

Iran-Article 44-Economy
Although Article 44 of the Constitution underlines the economic management of the country, the important issue has so far been neglected, said Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Mohammad Nahavandian.

In a meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and a number of MPs, he further said that the eighth Majlis has put the country's economic progress on its agenda and the way to materialize this is taking advantage of the capacities of economic activists.

"Economic players are interested in investing and generating jobs and they can bring about a change in promoting employment and lowering inflation," he said, adding that to do this they need security and peace.

Nahavandian hoped that a strong bond will be forged between the chamber and Majlis so that the atmosphere for business will become prosperous.

Describing the duty of the government as policymaking, he also said that one cannot speak of making prices liberal and at the same time talk about determining profit rates by issuing orders.

The chamber is ready to make its experiences in the field available to Majlis, Nahavandian said, adding that specialized commissions of the institute are prepared to help respective Majlis commissions in compiling executive bylaw for Article 44 of the Constitution.
