Wartime mine explosion kills four soldiers in western Iran

Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah prov, July 6, IRNA

Iran-Mine Explosion
Four soldiers were martyred by explosion of an unexploded wartime mine on the road from Qasr-e Shirin to Naft Shahr cities in this western province Saturday night.

The martyrs were four infantry soldiers from the second brigade of Army's 81th armor division. A fifth second lieutenant was also injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Having over 180 km of joint border with Iraq, Qasr-e Shirin was captured by Iraqi forces for two years during the US-backed imposed war on Iran 1980-1988.

Many local residents and military forces have so far lost their lives, become amputated or injured by explosion of wartime mines in this region.
