Larijani: Majlis ready for cooperation with Sudan

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Majlis is ready for expansion of cooperation with Sudan.


According to Majlis Media Department on Saturday, Larijani in a meeting with Sudan Ambassador to Tehran Abdullah Khasar al-Bashir called Iran and Sudan two important countries in the Middle East and Africa Horn and pointed out that the two countries enjoy high potential in economic and political affairs so their ties are not just tactical relations but have a strategic depth.

Referring to the bilateral and regional political cooperation between Tehran and Khartoum, Larijani said, "Sudan's stance on regional issues and its support for Iran's peaceful nuclear program is admirable."
The Sudanese ambassador, for his part, felicitated Larijani for his election as new Majlis speaker and also conveyed Sudan National Assembly speaker's felicitation message to his Iranian counterpart.

He said, "Considering your experiences and effective influences in the international and regional issues, the Sudan National Assembly speaker hopes our parliamentary ties will be promoted to its highest level."
Expressing pleasure with high level of political relations between the two countries, the ambassador called for expansion of economic ties and added, "After sanctions imposed against Sudan, we adopted an eastern policy and in this concern Tehran is a priority for us.

Al-Bashir also submitted an invitation letter from the Sudanese speaker to Larijani to pay a visit to Sudan.
