Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran said here Friday current situation in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan is quite unsatisfactory, which is due to oppressor powers' aggressive mood and double standards observed by them.

Addressing thousands of Tehrani worshipers at central campus of Tehran University, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani added, "They accuse us of training terrorists, but in the course of the past few days the British courts acquitted a number of real terrorists from the terrorist crimes they had beyond doubt committed."
He said, "They even take those terrorists to their parliaments and take instrumental advantage of them. The United States officially supports an armed terrorist grouplet called 'Pezhak' in Iraqi Kurdistan. The Western powers created Al-Qaeda in our region, which has today begun creating problems for themselves."
Rafsanjani also referred to the Shiraz bomb explosion incident, arguing, "We witnessed the occurrence of an ugly terrorist move in Seyyed ul-Shohada Hosseiniyeh in Shiraz a couple of weeks ago, in which innocent people who had gathered for recitation of the Glorious Qur'an and prayers laid in their blood."
The Friday preacher of Tehran added, "Although our intelligence officials denied that there was any sabotage involved in the explosion during the first days after the incident, due to the expediency they deemed as necessary and did not consider the victims of that sad event martyrs, the Intelligence Minister yesterday solved this problem, announced that the explosion was due to a terrorist bomb attack." He said, "The Intelligence Minister thus relieved the hearts of Shirazi citizens, announcing that the initially declared stand was wrong."
Seriously ejecting the US accusations against Iran, he said, "In case of Iraq, we might be able to say that no Islamic country has invested as highly as Iran so that the Iraqi nation would be able to rule their own faiths free from discord. We think there is no better option than a geographically integrated whole Iraq, with a unified nation, that would leave at peace with one another."
Hashemi Rafsanjani said, "The occupiers are the root cause for the ongoing troubles in Iraq, but they resort to accusing the others in order to save their reputation. Assistance of Iraq's neighbors is necessary in order to solve those foreign-made problems."
He added, "They have been present in Afghanistan for many years, and NATO, too, with all its might, has done nothing for the people of that land."
Rafsanjani also referred to his remarks on the authentic name of the Persian Gulf a while ago, arguing, "I received many kind of comments, as well as a question, where in the Glorious Qur'an have you found the name of the Persian Gulf?"
He said, "I did not say then that the name of the Sea of Persia is stated in the Qur'an. What I said was that 95% of the interpreters of the Book have referred to the meaning of the Qur'anic expression "Majma'a al-Bahrain", that means the place where two seas meet, as the joining spot of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, particularly in interpretation of the Qur'anic Chapter 'Al-Kahf' (The Cave) and these are important historic documents.
