Primary meeting of Iran-South Africa commission held

Iran-South Africa-Cooperation
Iran and South Africa primary meeting of economic, commercial and technical cooperation commission was held here Monday afternoon.


Deputy minister of economic and finance and South African deputy foreign minister presided the meeting in which the agenda of the next joint commission of the two countries was discussed and considered.

Representatives from ministries of Commerce, Road and
Transportation, Agriculture, Oil, Foreign Affairs and Industry and Mine attended the meeting.

The 10th joint commission of economic, commerce and technical cooperation is due to be hold around two months later in Tehran.

The two countries intend to expand economic and commercial ties in the framework of existing and upcoming agreements.

Head of Iran's economic assistance and investment organization told reporters, "Presence of MTN Company (Irancell) in Iran is a successful pattern of cooperation between the two countries which means Iran market has the capacity of accepting other South African companies."
South African Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahd by saying that his country supplies 40 percent of its oil by Iran, underlined that there are suitable grounds for expansion of mutual ties and the duty of the 10th joint commission is to find ways for promotion of relations.

He added, "There is expectation that in the next 2 years the trade exchange level between the two countries reach to more than seven billion dollars.

Currently, the trade exchange between Iran and South Africa is around 4 billion and 300 million dollars.
