Iran's Ambassador to Bahrain, Hossein Amir- Abdollahian, has said there are many opportunities for Tehran and Manama to increase their trade exchanges.
In an interview with the Bahraini newspaper, Alayam, the diplomat said that a visit to Manama by the Iranian president in last November has paved the way for further promotion of bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador made the remarks on the occasion of the fifth joint meeting of Iranian and Bahraini businessmen underway in the Bahraini capital from May 3-7.
About 40 Iranian businessmen and officials from Iranian chambers of commerce, industries and mines are discussing ways of expanding bilateral commercial ties during the meeting.
Trade officials of the two countries are also to discuss ways to increase joint investments in Iran and Bahrain.
The Iranian delegation to the meeting is headed by Vice Chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Ala Mir-Mohammad Sadeqi.
During the five-day gathering, the two sides would discuss launching of four joint projects by experts of the two countries.
Sadeqi had previously said that the volume of Iran-Bahrain trade exchanges have increased from 20 million dollars to 170 million, in the past decade showing an eight-fold increase.
The two sides would also discuss establishment of joint companies in the fields of shipping, airline, foodstuff, medicine and industries.
