Export of non-oil commodities to Iraq rises

The export of non-oil commodities via Mehran International border point to Iraq increased by 35 percent last Iranian year (ended March 20), compared with the figure for same period the previous year, head of Ilam Customs Office said on Saturday.


Abbas Alidadi put the value of Iranian commodities exported to Iraq at dlrs 234 million last year, showing a 61 million dollar increase compared to the same period the previous year.

He noted that the commodities weighting 763,124 tons were exported via Mehran international boarder point to Iraq.

"The main non-oil export items included construction materials, cooling equipment, plastic material and foodstuffs," Alidadi said.

He said that Mehran international border point is considered one of the most important points for travel of Iranian pilgrims and export of commodities to Iraq.
