Minister of Sciences, Researches and Technology conferred with his Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the OIC Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (Comstech) here Wednesday.
The 3-day meeting started its work here on Tuesday with ministers of sciences and technology of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) state members.
In the meeting, Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi congratulated his Pakistani counterpart Tahmineh Doulataneh on her being appointed on the post as the minister of Sciences and Technology.
Referring to the importance of Comstech in developing sciences and technology in the Islamic world, Zahedi said, "We have witnessed that a number of developed countries have been trying to impose a scientific apartheid against Islamic countries in recent years." He added under the fake and baseless pretext they have been trying to deprive Islamic countries of access to the advanced technology, specially peaceful nuclear energy.
Referring to Iran's scientific position among Islamic countries, Zahedi said, "We are able to have an effective cooperation with OIC member states in policy making, programming and developing infrastructures in sciences and technology."
The Iranian minister also invited his Pakistani counterpart to visit Iran's universities and research centers.
The Pakistani minister, for her part, expressed pleasure with Iran's recent progress in the fields of sciences and technology and underlined that Islamabad intends to use Iranian experiences in different fields of sciences.
The two sides also emphasized activating joint working group and following signed agreements.
On the sideline of the meeting, the Iranian minister also met with his counterparts from Yemen, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan Republic and Senegal, separately.
