Iran's Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Goudarzi will attend Majlis on Sunday to brief MPs on measures taken by his ministry to supply necessary fuel for people trapped by spreading wave of cold weather, Majlis speaker said.

Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel made the remarks at his opening address to the Majlis open session on Sunday.

Referring to the heavy snowfalls which hit the country in the past week, the speaker said that Goudarzi was summoned to Majlis to brief deputies on necessary measures taken by his ministry to help people overcome their problems, including fuel shortage, in dealing with the cold winter.

A massive wave of unprecedented cold weather hit Iran since last week reducing the temperature in some western and northwestern cities to minus 30 Celsius.

All schools and some universities were shut down in the past few days as a result of worsening cold weather and fuel shortage.
