Spokesman says president's trip to Doha shows Iran's good will

Tehran, Dec 5, IRNA

Iran-FM Spokesman
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini in an interview with IRNA on Wednesday evening presented his evaluation of President Ahmadinejad's trip to Doha to participate 28th summit meeting of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC).

He said many of PGCC member states officials have considered President Ahmadinejad's presence in the 28th summit meeting of PGCC as an indication of good will and the peak of mutual confidence between Islamic Republic of Iran and its neighbors.

Hosseini added, "Heads of PGCC member states have evaluated President Ahmadinejad's proposals 'positive'.

IRNA asked, "What is the reason of including the UAE's territorial claim in the final communique of the summit? Hosseini answered, "The action is ineffective and does not help solve the issue while bilateral negotiation between Iran and the United Arab Emirates can remove misunderstanding concerning the three islands.

Hosseini pointed out, "Interests, security and common fate of regional countries are too valuable to be affected by petty problems and certainly wisdom and prudence of leaders and strengthening collective economic and security cooperation among regional countries can turn Persian Gulf to a model of peace, stability, security, tranquility and development in the world."
