Pakistani PM Gilani embarks on U.S visit on Saturday: state TV

Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will embark on a three-day visit to the United States on Saturday, the state-run television reported.

It is Mr. Gilani's first visit to the United States since he assumed office as Prime Minister in March this year.

The Prime will discuss with President Bush the regional security situation and the 'war against terrorism', PTV reported.

According to the Foreign Office the Prime Minister will talk with President George Bush at the White House on July 28.

The meeting will be followed by lunch, a Foreign Ministry official said.

Mr Gilani will reach Washington on July 27 in the evening. He will have no engagements on 27th.

He will also meet Vice President Richard B. Cheney on July 28.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will call on the Prime Minister on July 28 besides call by Secretary Energy Samuel W. Bodman Secretary Treasury Henry Merritt "Hank" Paulson Jr. will meet the Prime Minister on July 29 and Mr. Gilani will attend energy roundtable at the World Bank.

On the same day he will have meeting with Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The Secretary Defense Robert Gates will also call on the Prime Minister and he will address at Council of Foreign Relations.

On July 29, he will address Pakistani American community.

On July 30th, he will have a meeting with CEO's of US Chamber of Commerce and will also meet the Congress Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressmen.
