EU's Solana hopes for "constructive and positive answer" from Iran

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana here Wednesday expressed hope for a "constructive and positive answer" from Iran aimed at jump-starting negotiations with Tehran during his talks with Iran's main nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili in the Swiss city of Geneva on Saturday.

Speaking at a news conference in Berlin, Solana said he hoped to communicate good news on Saturday."
He confirmed also that the US would also be involved in the 5 plus 1 meeting with Iran.

Solana made also clear that he could "not guarantee for success in the Iran nuclear talks.

He urged again the need for a negotiated diplomatic solution on the Iranian nuclear standoff.

Solana took part at a high-profile two-day international conference in Berlin on Tuesday, focusing on pressing global issues like the future role of the US in world politics, disarmament and climate change.
