Rafsanjani calls for more cooperation among OIC members

Head of Leadership Experts Assembly Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, in a meeting with the Speaker of Senegal's Senate here on Saturday, called for more cooperation and interaction among member states of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) on different issues.

According to Experts Assembly Public Relations, Rafsanjani stressed on the excellent relations between Iran and Senegal and said, "Senegal has always been a good friend for Iran and her friendship has been strategic and sustainable."
Referring to Senegal's rotating presidency of the OIC, Rafsanjani said the government of Senegal has a heavy responsibility in resolving the problems of the Muslim world.

"Iran and Senegal can have good cooperation in international community, the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, OIC and other international organizations," Ayatollah Rafsanjani told his Senegalese visitor.

Experiences of Iran in different fields can help Senegal's development and the Islamic Republic is willing to give her experiences to her African friends, he added.

In this regard, Rafsanjani called for more cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The Speaker of Senegal's Senate Pape Diop, for his part, referred to the exemplary and friendly relations between the two countries in car making industry, power generation and other fields and expressed hope that the relations expand even more.
