Iran, Austria ink railway agreement

Iran and the Austrian company RAI inked an agreement on implementation of joint railway projects.


Announcing this, the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IR) added as per the agreement, the Austrian company is obliged to cooperate with Iranian side on completion of Qazwin- Rasht-Astara railroad.

"The RAI company will cooperate in the fields of infrastructure and signaling the said railroad," Mohammad-Reza Kaymanesh said.

"The project is part of the international North-South Corridor," he said.

Kaymanesh continued negotiations have already been held with Azerbaijan in this respect.

He termed the railroad as one of the most important IR projects, adding the route play a key role in transferring commodities and passengers in the Gilan province.
