Iran, Algeria keen to increase trade ties

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand bilateral ties with Algeria in the fields of trade and industry.

This was announcing by Director General of Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Industry in charge of European, African, American and Arabic affairs in meetings with some Algerian officials in Algiers.

Ali Asqar Farshchi said that the two sides held talks on establishment of a wagon manufacturing factory and to this end an agreement would be signed.

"The two sides also have reached an agreement to set up a joint cement factory in near future," he said.

Earlier, Iran and Algeria inked an agreement worth dlrs 52 million, on construction of gas storage tanks, Iranian Ambassador to Algiers Hossein Abdi Abyaneh said.

As per the agreement, the Islamic Republic of Iran is obliged to construct some gas storage tanks within 14 months and transfer and install them in Djanet region in Algeria.

"This is the first agreement reached between the two countries since 2001," he said.
