Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday emphasized the necessity of implementation of Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway.

Medvedev, the former chairman of state-controlled gas company Gazprom, made the statement after talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdymukhamedov.

Berdymukhamedov, for his part, expressed hope that the Russian railway could connect to the said railway in near future.

President Medvedev arrived in Ashkhabad on Friday for a two-day official visit.
