Asia-Pacific housing ministers to attend Tehran's confab

Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Saeedi-Kya said on Monday that housing ministers from Asia-Pacific region are to attend in the the second Asia-Pacific Conference on Housing and Urban Development in Tehran.

Speaking on the sidelines of the expert meeting of the second Asia-Pacific Conference on Housing and Urban Development, he said some 14 ministers have arrived in Tehran by this time and that 19 to 20 ministers are expected to come.

The Second Ministerial level of Asia-Pacific Conference on Housing and Urban Development is to be kicked off on May 14th in Tehran, he said.

The first conference was initiated by India and assistance of United Nations which aimed to study new urbanization, new problems created in cities, suburbanite and illegal settlement, sanitation, water, sewage along all existing challenges in urban lives, he said.

Expert meeting of the second Asia-Pacific Conference on Housing and Urban Development opened in Tehran on Monday.

The expert meeting will draw up agenda for the the ministerial conference.

The APMCHUD is to adopt techniques for sustainable urban development within the framework of Millennium Development Goals, examining the ways to block poverty especially in vicinities of the metropolis cities and the suburbs which need regional and
international cooperation.
