India-Iran-Ties
India's Defence Minister A K Antony has said India will "react strongly" if the US initiates military action against Iran.
"The country had not changed its policy towards Iran. "India would not snap long-established international relations. There is no going back on this front," Antony said in Thiruvananthapuram addressing the media on the sidelines of an air show organized by the Southern Air Command, Indian Express reported here today.
He said the Congress would not water down its independent policy.
"Nuclear energy is essential for the country's growing energy requirements. It is unfortunate that it is being depicted as anti-Muslim," he said.
Exuding confidence that the UPA Government would win the confidence motion, the Congress leader said the CPI-M will have to "pay a heavy price for joining hands with communal forces".
"The CPI-M and other Left parties have stooped to the level of embracing even Devil to bring down the Government. To oust the UPA, the Left parties have sought the support of forces which they have been opposing for several years. We have seen the CPI-M general secretary rushing to Mayawati's house," Antony said.
