Mottaki: No limit for expansion of Tehran-Baku cooperation

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Monday that Iran considers no limit for expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

"We consider no limit for cooperation with Azerbaijan and believe that regarding high economic, commercial, energy and agricultural capacities of the two countries, the cooperation can further expand," Mottaki told speaker of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan Wasif Talibev here Monday.

Mottaki said that progress, development, stability and security of Azerbaijan are the same as that of Iran.

He added that religious, cultural and historical commonalities shared by Iran and Azerbaijan can be an important asset and backing for better ties between the two sides.

He noted that Iran is ready for transfer and export of gas from Central Asian republics, including Azerbaijan, to Persian Gulf on a swap basis.

The two sides also discussed facilitation of visits to either country by their nationals, expansion of relations in tourism and enrollment of Azeri students by Iranian universities. Construction of Jolfa-Jolfa bridge and Ordobad Marazad hydraulic power plant is among other subjects discussed by the two officials.

Talibov pointed to visit of 800,000 Iranian and 72,000 Azeri nationals to Azerbaijan and Iran respectively in the first six months of this year and said Azerbaijan is ready to lift visa requirement for Iranians.
